The Washington Wrap

The Washington Redskins have six players on Injured Reserve, sixteen players on the injury report, and on Sunday they play football on a short week against their arch rivals the Dallas Cowboys coming off a bruising loss against the Philadelphia Eagles.

So yeah, things are going great right now.

On today's show hosts Chad Ryan and Mark Phillips are joined by good mate Liz Clarke from the Washington Post to discuss the mammoth injury situation, the narrative with Kirk Cousins after yet another prime time loss, and the next month of football on the Redskins schedule because it looks tough beyond comprehension.

We also ask the sobering question; will Jay Gruden find himself on the hot seat if things go sour this season?

But don't worry, it's not all doom and gloom this episode, as you'll see when you tune in!

The Redskins have moved to 3 and 2 on the season following what can best be described as a rather pedestrian 26-24 victory at home over the San Francisco 49ers. But 3 and 2 is obviously better than 2 and 3, and it's also good enough to keep Washington firmly in the playoff hunt!

However, if the Redskins are going to make a run for the post-season, then they will need to have a lot better luck than they've had with injuries to start the season, and that's probably the biggest story around the team at the moment; who is hurt, who is and isn't available, and really... what the hell is going on?!

To help hosts Chad Ryan and Mark Phillips figure that out, as well as previewing the massive NFC East game on Monday Night Football against the Eagles in Philadelphia, they are joined by 106.7 The Fan's Redskins beat reporter Craig Hoffman (making his RCC debut today!)

Together they talk about the continued improvement of Matt Ioannidis, expanding Josh Doctson's role in the offense, and the roadmap to victory against Carson Wentz, to name just a few of the topics covered!

We've reached the first quarter mark of the 2017 Washington Redskins campaign, and it just so happens to coincide with the bye week, so what better time to recap not only the 29-20 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs on Monday Night Football, but also step back and look at the big picture after four games.

The Redskins find themselves at 2-2 heading into the bye, and there have been some enormously positive signs so far, but also still some areas of concern remain, and the room for improvement is still very much there.

To help host Chad Ryan unpack all of this, friend of the show Michael Phillips (Richmond Times-Dispatch Sports Editor) dials in and talks about the biggest bright spots, the biggest surprises, and the biggest concerns as the Redskins look to compete for a playoff spot once again in 2017.
